What are personas?
According to ‘interaction-design.org’:
Personas are fictional characters, which you create based upon your research to represent the different user types that might use your service, product, site, or brand in a similar way. Creating personas will help you to understand your users’ needs, experiences, behaviors, and goals.
Persona is a concept that is used a lot in digital marketing. It gives you an enormous added value to research your website visitors and customers before you start to write your content.
Let’s have a look how you can create a persona in ContentPlanner.
Open your project dashboard
First you have to go to your project dashboard and there you will find a card dedicated to personas:

Create a persona
Press the plus button ‘+’ to create a new persona:

A popup window will appear where you can enter the name of your persona, we will call our persona ‘Jessica’:

Persona Details
An empty detail persona page will open after you pressed the ‘Create’ button in the previous screen:

On this page you will see different sections:
- Who
- What
- Solution
- Sale
- Notes & Research
Now you should fill in all the sections as completely as possible. In order to edit a section you need to press on the pen icon button in the upper right corner:

In the ‘Who’ section, you need to fill in the fields:
- Short description: where you describe your persona in 1 sentence
- Demographics: provide more details such as age, gender education, nationality, …
- Background: fill in some background info about the persona
Don’t forget to press the save button after making edits to the section.
Make sure you also fill in all the other sections! More complete personas will result in more result focused content!
